Media continue to vie for that very special event in 2011. Yes, the Royal wedding had merit, as had the Royal vist. A later U.S President Obama visit reminded us of  " is feidir linn" and should not be forgotten for its motive and message.

 But what of November 18 in Dublin ?

That was the fateful morning when the governer of the Central Bank, Patrick Honohan, revealed on a Morning Ireland,interview, that Ireland was in the economic manure business. Honohan confirmed that IMF representive were due in Dublin to undertake major surgery on the Irish economy. The government waffle and BS  was replaced with a realization of a very different ballgame. The terms of the bail out introduced, tax hikes, reduction in public sector wages, and more cutbacks, more austerity .

While the about-turn in fortune was not welcome, it ended a disgrace of Government duping a very angry nation.
