Allergan Pharmaceuticals Ireland recently announced the construction of a new biologics manufacturing facility to its plant in Westport. The company currently employs 900 in its Westport and Dublin operations. This announcement extends an additional 250 jobs to its workforce.
What is perhaps overlooked is that the Allegan success story in Westport was initially influenced by one local individual. The late Myles Staunton, played such a vital role in persuading Allergan, IDA and others to locate in Westport. Myles Staunton, waged nearly a one man campaign in his goal to achieve this success.
Jim Kiely and his team established THE standard that ensured that the Westport plant stood head and sholders above its peers. Pat O'Donnel, current managing director, and his team, continue to build on those very high standards with this, very welcome, recent announcement
